2.4 Information from third parties

If you sign in using Apple or Google, we receive basic account details those services share with us, according to your settings with them.

3. How we use your information

  • to process and verify purchases, provide Subscription access and prevent fraud;
  • to show location-based features such as nearby spots, conditions or maps;
  • to store, display and (where you choose) share your catches and content;
  • to provide customer support and respond to your requests;
  • to send service messages such as account, security, billing and policy notices;

  • to keep the App secure and enforce our Terms and Conditions; and
  • to comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use it for third-party advertising.

4. Legal bases (EEA / UK users)

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process your personal data on these legal bases: contract (to provide the App and your purchases); legitimate interests (to secure, maintain and improve the App, where not overridden by your rights); consent (for example, precise location, where we ask for it, which you can withdraw at any time); and legal obligation (to meet tax, accounting and other legal requirements).

5. How we share information

We share personal information only as described below:

Service providersCloud hosting, database and storage, analytics, crash reporting, email delivery and similar services that act on our instructions and are bound to protect your information.
Other usersOnly content you choose to make public or shareable in the App (for example, a shared catch or spot). Please do not share anything you want to keep private.

Business transfersA successor, if the App or our business is sold or transferred, subject to this policy continuing to protect your information.

6. Subscriptions and payments

Purchases are made through the Apple App Store or Google Play, and billing is governed by their terms and privacy policies. To manage or cancel a Subscription, use your Apple ID or Google Play account settings, as explained in our Terms and Conditions. We use purchase status information only to unlock the features you paid for and to keep our records.

7. Location, camera and permissions

The App may ask for permission to access your device’s location, camera, photo library or notifications. These permissions are optional, and the App’s related features may not work if you decline. You can change or withdraw permissions at any time in your device’s settings. Location data is used to provide features you request and is not shared with other users unless you choose to share a spot or catch location.

8. International transfers

We and our service providers may process and store information in countries other than your own, including countries that may not have the same data protection laws as yours. Where we transfer personal information overseas, we take reasonable steps to make sure it is protected to a comparable standard, such as by using providers with appropriate contractual safeguards.

9. Retention

We keep your personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the App. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal information within a reasonable time, except where we must keep some information to meet legal, tax or accounting obligations, resolve disputes or enforce our agreements. Backups are removed on a rolling schedule.

10. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access, such as encryption in transit and access controls. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a privacy breach occurs that is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify affected people and the New Zealand Privacy Commissioner as required by law.

11. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • access the personal information we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct information that is inaccurate;
  • ask us to delete your information;
  • object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent you have given;
  • receive a copy of your information in a portable format (EEA / UK); and
  • lodge a complaint with a regulator.

To exercise these rights, email us at tightlinesfishing2026@gmail.com. We may need to verify your identity first, and we will respond within the time required by law (generally within 20 working days in New Zealand, and one month under the GDPR). In New Zealand you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner; in the EEA or UK, you may contact your local data protection authority.

12. Deleting your account and data

You can request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time by emailing tightlinesfishing2026@gmail.com from the email address linked to your account (or using the account deletion option in the App, if available). Deleting your account does not cancel an active Subscription; you must cancel it through the Apple App Store or Google Play.

13. Children’s privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it. Users under 18 should use the App with parental permission.

14. California residents

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, use and disclose, to request deletion or correction, and not to be discriminated against for exercising your rights. In the last 12 months we have collected the categories of information described in section 2 for the purposes in section 3. We do not sell or “share” personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. To make a request, contact us using the details below.

15. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will let you know in the App or by email, and update the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the App after the changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
